India is 2, 10, 33, 63, 94, 136 run by 545 of 1.27 Billion and counting

The fact is that we are the 2nd most populous country in the world.
We rank 10 in the GDP among the nations.
We rank 133 in per capita GDP on purchasing power parity.
Independent India is 63 years old.
We are the 94th is Transparency International corruption Index( 1 being lowest corruption).
We rank 136 in the Human development Index of the United nations.
We are run by the Lok Sabha of our Parliament on 545 members.
These 545 have been elected by the eligible electorate of population of 1.27 billion and counting.

These are end of the day numbers....

For we Indians, we take pride in inventing or discovering the 0.  Or rather the concept of nothingness.

There are more numbers, as we look at the map, we shall see our nos, states, caste, city, gender, clubs, schools, hospitals, sick, needy, blind, pending legal cases, criminals, etc etc.

What nos do we see in the India map?

In the next few blogs, I shall explore with my capability the above numbers and the related ones in further detail.

Governance at Temples

As I keep reading about corporate governance, I wonder if there is anything like temple governance?

Most temples in India are under the control of the government agencies or government sponsored trusts. What is the public accountability of these organisations, considering there is at least one or two stampedes every year and a few deaths arising from there. There are many small temples struggling for funds, daily prayer, maintenance and restoration. Where does all the money at Tirupathi, Shiridi, Vaishno devi, Guruvayoor, Attukal bhagavathi etc etc go?

Why are Pilgrim facilities still lacking at many places? Why are many temples dilapidated? Why are many priests struggling for a living?

More later.....

Or a different note, we are happy to tip 50 at a restaurant or may be a few dollars at an international airport and none to the priests?
